This was the post that Blogger ate. It should have been published early March. It is how we spent the beginning of March....flirting.
You know when you have kids sick at home and they feel miserable? Then one day they are getting on your last nerve and you realize they feel much better and it is time for them to go back to school?

Rooster feels better.
Rooster took some time off. The house woke up the other morning a little late for a leisurely breakfast. Everyone was up suddenly and running around trying to get ready. Rooster, who hasn't been home during a weekday in a long time is trying to orchestrate everything. Since everyone is used to following a different conductor, it was a little chaotic. I let him do his conducting, while I quietly worked behind the scenes getting ready to leave for an appointment. It wasn't hard for my endeavors to go unnoticed because Rooster was busy extolling his own brilliance in his work.
"Do you see how clean the kitchen is? The dishes are clean, the sink is clean, now why can't you do that in the mornings?"
"umhum"
There was much more said by Rooster but all of it doesn't need to be shared, that line gives you the general idea of the thread of his conversation. My part of the conversation never changed from the very expressive, "umhum"
He then struts off to the bedroom as only a rooster can do and I signal our guest it is time to leave. Yes, our guest S is still with us. The appointment was for her. Rooster and I were taking her and then we were all going on to other activities after the appointment.
I believe I mentioned something about Rooster feeling better and then how that phenomena always seems to include getting on my last nerve? Well, I decided toget back at him respond in my own way to him for the morning harassment conversation. I decided we would take my car. Ahem..... and also that I would drive.
S came out of the house and went directly to the back passenger seat.
"No! No! Please sit in the front seat!"
"Why?"
"Because Rooster won't like it."
Giggles
S moved around to the front passenger seat giggling all the while.
I jumped in the drivers seat, gripped the steering wheel with both hands and shifted my bottom firmly into the seat. And waited..........
Rooster didn't appear.
Time was running out. We were now late. So...... to expedite things I backed the car out of the garage, stopping with the back passenger door right at the back door of the house. I am so helpful that way.
Still no Rooster.
Suddenly, he appeared at the door. A look came over his face. This look said "I see something that doesn't make sense but don't have the time to stop and analyze why."
"I can't find my glasses!"
Hum....brilliant.
I took a moment to weigh my options, but time was ticking so I really had no choise but to abandon my seat for the moment and go look for his glasses. Sigh. I slowly walked around the kitchen looking and then the living room. He suddenly appeared with his glasses in his hand coming from the bedroom.
"You found them?"
"No, this is my second pair. I'll find them when we get back."
We both moved towards the back door and I suddenly realized he was a few paces ahead of me. I picked up my speed to make it back to the front seat of the car first. If he got even the slightest advantage over me all would be lost.
Seriously, I can't believe he didn't catch on faster that something was up. All of the visual clues, me in the front seat, rushing to get to the back door before him..... I wasn't exactly subtle.
Apparently he stopped along the way to pick up more as he left the house because I had enough time to get my butt firmly planted back in the front seat with a vice grip on the steering wheel.
Rooster stepped out of the back door, came to a halt and
"OHHHH NO! I am not driven. No one drives me."
"Hurry we are already late!
"I don't like this!"
"We don't have time! We are already going to be late! Hurry! Get in the car! said with a severe frown. Meanwhile, hysterical giggles are coming from the front passenger side of the car.
Rooster reluctantly climbed into the back passenger seat grumbling all of the time..
"I don't like this........you know I don't like to be driven........I don't think I have every been in the back seat of this car...........There is an AC control back here!"
If S had not been there giggling the whole time, this would not have worked. I would have found myself hauled out of my seat and tossed into the back faster than I could have blinked. Rooster doesn't like to be driven by anyone. If there is a need for everyone in the office to go to a meeting together....he insists on driving. I am the one to teach the kids how to drive. In fact that is a punishment threat. "If you don't settle down and listen to my instructions, I will have your father teach you how to drive." It works. He is not the most patient person in the passenger seat.
Fortunately, our destination was close and I was having fun. Giggles were still coming from S in the front passenger seat.
S went into her meeting and we settled down to wait. Eventually I was called for consultation on scheduling and left Rooster in the lobby.
When we returned to the lobby, Rooster handed me my sunglasses. I suddenly realized my mistake and looked frantically for my keys. I had left both my sunglasses and keys sitting on the table.
Rooster very calmly flipped them with a jingle in his hand and gave me a look. Power was very firmly back in his hands and he wasn't about to relinquish it. Guess who sat in the back seat on the way home. Grrrr!
Later on that day, were running one of the kids to an appointment. Rooster told me he wanted to take me out to lunch, just me. These days this is a difficult thing to accomplish with the house full of people. He asked me where I wanted to go and I suggested we wait until we got to the area of the appointment drop off. It is in an area of town we rarely visit.
Usually, this is how the decision process around choosing a restaurant goes:
"Where do you want to eat?"
"I don't know. Where do you want to eat?"
"You decide."
"Let's go to the Turkish place."
"No, we eat there all of the time."
"Mexican."
"No, too heavy."
"Chinese"
"NO! next please!"
"Thai?"
"Eh....."
"Ok, where do you want to go?!"
"I don't know......lets just go to the Turkish place."
This drives me crazy!
By choosing to wait until we got to another area of town, I was hoping to reduce the chances of this happening. We are much more likely to settle and agree quickly.
We dropped the kid off at their appointment and Rooster began circling around the parking lot to find the best exit to the freeway. I continued a conversation that had started earlier between us.
Suddenly Rooster pulled up in front of a restaurant and parked. He hadn't driven far, it was in an adjoining parking lot. I looked up and it was a Cajun restaurant. I haven't had Cajun in years.
If he had given me a diamonds at that moment, they wouldn't have made me as happy as him taking control and making the decision about where we were going to eat with no input from me.
I was really over the top happy......
from such a simple thing.
Rooster exerting his power.....
well...it's a powerful thing.

Question:
I have heard of submission exercises, is there such a thing as leadership exercises? If so what are some examples.
